OVERVIEW

Plantain Place

ADP undertook the planning negotiations and architectural design for the proposed development of two residential apartments above ADP’s own studio housed in former late Victorian workshops near London Bridge.

We carried out consultations with the adjoining residential owners that ensured no objections were made by the neighbouring properties, and planning permission was granted by Southwark in January 2012.

The design challenges involved the resolution of a host of physical and daylighting restrictions on a small but very complex site. The two apartments are located on opposite sides of a narrow courtyard and required very careful and creative internal planning to avoid overlooking between the apartments and other close residential properties. The modern architectural language provides a lightweight glass and aluminium steel framed contemporary addition while respecting the integrity of the existing masonry host building below.

Our Corde partners provided the engineering services and the fit out was undertaken by our interior design team.
