OVERVIEW

Knop Law Primary School

Knop Law Primary School is an RIBA Award winning two-form entry school. It forms part of an initiative to support Newcastle City Council in delivering facilities that focus on the wider regeneration and community development in the city. Overlooking the Tyne Valley, Knop Law provides a strong presence within the local community. Pupils access the building through dedicated entrances for each year group to minimise the amount of travel once inside the building.

The school features a range of teaching, multi-use and community rooms, in addition to an ICT suite and a dedicated music room within two separate wings. At the heart of the school, the main hall brings each year group together as one community. Eye-catching colour panels are echoed throughout the building, injecting an element of fun to the elevations. Habitat and wildlife gardens provide children with alternative learning environments, supporting their play and development. This encourages participation in a variety of external spaces, which bring both educational and personal benefits.

Knop Law achieved a 10% renewables target set by the council and has been designed to achieve a BREEAM ’Very Good’ rating for its use of sustainable initiatives.
