OVERVIEW

Pacific World School

ADP was commissioned to design a masterplan for a new 6240 place school that is needed to support a new housing zone on the outskirts of Delhi.

Located on a ten acre site, the challenge was to apply best practice learnt on other schools for the client, whilst developing a fresh concept that was unique to the school’s setting and purpose.

Our team explored a number of options before arriving at a simple but effective masterplan that was conceived around the concept of ‘ॐ’ (‘Om’); a sacred symbol and mantra in Hindu culture. The building envelope is designed to protect the soft green core, and serve as the soul of the project.

The material selection for the project is earthy and simple, with the use of brick, concrete and paint. The building envelope will naturally shade the green core and provide inter-block connections at various levels.

Key features of the project include flexible and dynamic spaces, which can be used for exhibitions, school gatherings and children’s play areas. A roof top swimming pool, open air theatre, auditorium, and multi-purpose hall will also be provided.

Colour bands on the façade will add warmth and vibrancy to the site, creating a welcoming and positive first impression.
The first phase of the project completed in October, and the whole school will be complete in March 2018.
