OVERVIEW

Claires Court School

ADP was appointed to develop a masterplan for Claires Court School, a 3-18 independent school in Maidenhead. The project involves the relocation of two out of the three campuses to adjoin the third campus on the land adjacent to it.

Working closely with an educationalist, ADP has designed a campus that will meet the expectations and the needs of the school. The junior boys will remain in the historic building, but the nursery, junior girls, senior girls, senior boys, sixth form and central facilities building, will all move to the proposed buildings. In order to make the proposals as efficient as possible, the school was planned around central specialist facilities.

The new campus, designed to accommodate 1500 students, is set in parkland with a historic woodland backdrop. The school has been designed around the existing trees and has been planned to form a number of formal quads and courtyards.

The buildings will provide classrooms that are bright and airy. Spread over three floors, the senior building is designed with a central spine for reception and office spaces, with the classrooms filing off of this central aspect. The school will also feature a colourful, clean canteen area and a contemporary performance theatre.

The school is due for completion in 2018.
