OVERVIEW

Butterworth Hall

Regional arts facilities play an important role in attracting business and stimulating the cultural life of local communities. Butterworth Hall, at the heart of Warwick Arts Centre, is such a facility. It provides a well-loved and key performance space for the Midlands, attracting performers and musicians of international calibre. ADP’s refurbishment and extension of Butterworth Hall has revitalised and updated the concert space to create an outstanding performance venue that will attract new artists and visitors.

Commissioned by The University of Warwick, the £5.2m project has created new facilities that allow for variable acoustics for both amplified and unamplified performances, and has increased the venues’ capacity to 1600 seating and 2000 standing. Other improvements include a new moveable stage, additional changing rooms and rehearsal facilities that can support a full orchestra, along with a new displacement ventilation system.

The grand re-opening of Butterworth Hall was celebrated with a magnificent performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra, under their Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
