Coulsdon College

Following appointment to the LSC’s (Learning Skills Council) framework agreement for the southern region, ADP was commissioned by Coulsdon College to undertake the extensive redevelopment of their existing campus.

To achieve the client’s aspirations of a light, flexible, and sustainable building, ADP’s design for the new facility incorporates a dramatic large central atrium, allowing natural light and ventilation to flow around the building. The atrium will house areas for display, open access to learning resource areas, break out, eating and social spaces.

Two new wings of flexible teaching space will be linked across the atrium and each curriculum area will have its own centralised hub with a central staff base, resource area and support facilities.

With a biomass boiler, sedum and bio-diversity roofs, passive ventilation, natural daylight and U-values that are significantly better than the minimum requirements of the Building Regulations, the project is on target to achieving a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
