The Forum is Highly Commended in RICS Awards

The Forum in Southend-on-Sea has just been announced as a winner of a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) East Award 2015 in the ‘Community Benefit’ category. The awards dinner was held at The Apex in Bury St. Edmonds on Wednesday evening.

The Head Judge said that the criteria for the awards was ‘quality of design, sustainability and positive impact on the local community’.

The Forum development is a three-way client share between Southend Borough Council, the University of Essex and South Essex College, who jointly funded the £27m project. Set within a new public square, the innovative new building provides a shared academic and municipal library, teaching and research facilities for the College and University, a café, offices and the Focal Point Gallery. The Forum makes a valuable contribution to its setting in Southend, providing an exciting community resource, shared by students, residents and visitors alike.

The project will now be entered into the national RICS awards, with the Grand Final being held later this year.
