St Thomas' ECP Shortlisted for Healthcare Estates Award

The Emergency Care Pathway project at St Thomas’ Hospital, a major remodelling of one of London’s busiest hospitals, has been shortlisted for Refurbishment Project of the Year at the Healthcare Estates Awards 2018.

The emergency department at St Thomas’ sees more than 140,000 patients coming through its doors each year, including 27,000 children. Dr John Criddle, Clinical Lead of Children’s Emergency Medicine, said that ‘working with ADP enabled us to achieve our ambitions for a flexible, high-spec space which has delivered a functional clinical area designed with the child at the heart of everything.’

Key to this success was the innovative use of artwork throughout the project, which was recognised at the European Healthcare Design Awards. Funded by Guy’s and St Thomas’ charity, and developed in conjunction with Art in Site, the designs were implemented to create a welcoming environment and to help patients navigate their way to the right area.

The project has previously been shortlisted at both the Constructing Excellence and NEC awards. The winners will be announced on the 9th October.
