ADP to design second Forum project

ADP has been appointed to design the “Forum 2” project, a follow-up to their award-winning design for the Forum.

Inspired by the success of the Forum, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and South Essex College have chosen to complete Elmer Square’s development with a new cultural and educational building. ADP carried out the feasibility study for the “Forum 2” in 2017, and will now take the project through to completion.

The clients’ vision is that the “Forum 2” will act alongside the Forum as a magnet for residents, students and cultural tourists, building on the regeneration strategy for Southend. The new building will include additional space for the Focal Point Gallery, south Essex’s gallery for contemporary visual art; and will also house a new digital workspace incubator hub, as well as new office space. In addition, South Essex College plans to provide new state-of-the-art facilities for music and the performing arts, together with a public café and restaurant, and a new skills kitchen for students.

Liz Jarrett, ADP Studio Director, said: “We are delighted to be appointed for this project, giving us the opportunity to design a building that complements the original Forum project, and completes the Elmer Square development. This will be a great destination within Southend’s town centre, helping with regeneration, and providing the Council, Focal Point Gallery and the College with outstanding new facilities.”
