New school for Great Western Park

The school is being developed as part of the expansion of Didcot, Harwell and surrounding areas, and will be the first mixed school to be provided locally.

With a name inspired by Roman gold coins found near the site, Aureus School has been designed around two atriums which provide social learning spaces to showcase Science, Technology and Maths (STEM) subjects. Teaching spaces open out onto a landscaped courtyard, which provides good views of the surrounding countryside and Ridgeway beyond.

The commission was awarded to Kier and ADP under the national framework for schools, which also includes the design and delivery of a University Technical College for Oxfordshire, due for completion in the autumn. Aureus School will open in 2017.
