St. Mark's Residences

Planning permission granted for student residences scheme

28 June 2010
We are pleased to announce that St. Mark's student residences at the University of Leeds has now received planning permission.

The £21.5m residences scheme, located near the University's main city-centre campus, will aid the regeneration of its local area. St. Mark's will provide high quality accommodation for the high proportion of postgraduates that attend the University.

The design consists of four main apartment blocks, arranged around a series of landscaped internal courtyards. These blocks follow the natural topography of the site, and have been carefully arranged to frame views and features from the surrounding area: a listed church, green spaces to the north, and almshouses to the west. The perimeter blocks follow and extend the existing street pattern, reinstating the urban language that already exists.

Each of the blocks is made up from a repeating unit of six en-suite study bedrooms with shared lounge and kitchen areas. There will also be a small number of studio apartments.
